Using hypnosis to access the unconscious mind, you are gently asked to visualise a timeline, a line running from the past, through the present, to the future. From there, the unconscious mind is guided back to the root cause of a particular negative emotion.
No need to relive the past
This is what makes Timeline Therapy so gentle. There is no need to connect with the sometimes painful memories of the past, no need to re-live events or immerse yourself in revisiting them. The work happens through the unconscious mind, so the old emotion can be released without reopening the wound.
Relaxed, safe and in control
Throughout the process you feel relaxed, safe and completely in control. It is a calm, supportive experience, and it sits naturally alongside analytical therapy as a way of resolving things at their root.
What the timeline actually is
The timeline is simply the way your own mind stores the order of your life. Ask yourself where the past is and where the future is, and you will point somewhere without thinking about it. Everyone has one, everyone's is slightly different, and in a relaxed state it becomes something you can move along.
Working along that line, we find the first moment the unwanted emotion attached itself, and the feeling is released from there. Because the emotion is let go at the point it was learned, every later memory that was carrying it loses its charge too.
Timeline Therapy and analytical therapy
The two are close relatives and are often used together. Analytical therapy uncovers and resolves the original cause of a problem. Timeline Therapy releases the emotion that cause left behind, without requiring you to go back into the memory itself. Which one Ann uses, or whether she combines them, depends on what you bring to the first conversation.
How many sessions does Timeline Therapy take?
It varies with the person and with how long the feeling has been in place, but this is short work rather than open-ended therapy, and most people need only a few sessions. Ann will give you an honest view on the free call before you book anything.
What it can help with
Because so many issues are rooted in a long-held emotion or belief, Timeline Therapy can support work on anxiety, self-esteem, fears and guilt, among others. If you would like to know whether it is right for you, the best first step is a free, no-pressure chat with Ann.
